Welcome to TwoMinuteWarning's teaser page! Generally we rely heavily on the TMW statistical reports, but for the first few weeks we will have to utilize some other strategies.

It's a good time to review what the history has been for teaser bets at certain line values (for the full table see the Week One Teaser Page):

The range to avoid on an overall basis is certainly the "big favorites" of 10+ points, which have been very poor teaser bets in general. On the other hand, home teams favored by 3 or less to underdogs of 3 or less have been excellent -- it must be noted though that home dogs have done very well against the spread historically and so the teaser results may be due to that rather than any particulars of the "range". Still, one of the goals of a good teaser play should be to pick up some of the key numbers in your cover range. If you tease a 2 point underdog, you now get the +3 and +7 results (very common occurrences) as part of your win range. Likewise teasing a favorite of 7.5 points now means that a 3 point or 7 point win will also count as a teaser cover.

Let's get to this week's teaser picks:

Green Bay -2.5 -- Packers should not lose to Washington at home on Monday Night. Given we can tease the line down to below a field goal, it looks pretty good for this one.

Denver -2 -- Denver did suffer a letdown loss last year when they were blitzed by the Bengals 31-21 despite being double digit road favorites (you may remember it as the game Corey Dillon ran wild and set a new NFL single game rushing record), so perhaps they are not the safest team to tease in this situation. Nevertheless, the Cardinals don't appear to be very good, while the Broncos appear to be fabulous. Terrell Davis is out yet again with knee problems, but Mike Anderson is clearly capable of stepping in and doing the job.

...those two plays make up the "big favorite two-teamer", but we'll look to be aggressive and play a five team ticket this week with the following as well:

San Diego +3 -- if you can get the Chargers at this price and thus get the full +3 tease value then we say go! The 'Bolts play in a tough division which may hurt their playoff chances, but they should take care of the 'Boys.

Oakland +7.5 -- Raiders-Dolphins figures to be a great match-up, but we see the Oaktown guys having a great shot of winning, and an even better chance of staying within a touchdown.

N.Y. Giants +7.5 -- yes we do like those key numbers, and getting the +3 and +7 makes us like the Giants in this spot against the Chiefs. We can count on Kansas City aggressively throwing the ball against the New York secondary that was picked apart in week one by Griese and the Broncos. This is a little cause for concern since some quick scores for KC are possible. However, the Giants aren't as woeful to our mind as people are making out, and again stand a fine chance of winning straight-up.

Just as a reminder, this is early in the season and consequently we can't rely on our usual customary stats...don't rush in with any kind of significant bets. Just as the main TwoMinuteWarning statistical predictions get much stronger by the time we reach week five, so too do the teaser plays.

    Season-To-Date Results:
    2-Team Teasers: 1-0
    4-Team Teasers: 0-1
Last week: Bengals won outright as underdogs, Seahawks just good enough to win and cover with the tease. Jets ruined the four-teamer, but note they gave up a 78 yd Punt Return TD in the first half and then when they had the chance to cut the lead to 38-31 (and get the teaser cover) they gave up a 95-yd touchdown fumble return! Ugh! Denver got it done on MNF, for 3/4.
