Motivation and Schedule Analysis
by Jerry and Teri
Still in a slump. If I was an NFL head coach this would be win or else territory.
Here are the games with extra adrenaline:
- Oakland at Philadelphia: Lots of sub plots here. The Gruden connection is factor one since Jon was an O/C for the Eagles before he landed the Oakland job. Charlie Garner also is looking to have a big game against the team that had him backing up Watters. Oakland's off a bye week so rested and has had a lot of time to figure out the Eagles. Philadelphia is coming off the big monday night win against arch-rival Giants and have revenge game with Arizona next up. Oakland long travel (2,800 miles) but with the bye it's not a problem.
Strong Pick Oakland +1.5
- New England at Denver: Broncos find themselves in a quandary: looking ahead to tough game in Oakland next week, trying to figure out what happened the last two games when they were blown out back to back, wondering who will be healthy enough to play this week at running back and quarterback. This is what it looks like when dynasties start falling apart. New England comes in here on a high with new leader Tom Brady.
Pick New England +7
- Cincinnati at Detroit: Bengals are 0-2 on the road and have not looked good in the losing by scores of 14-28 and 7-16. NFC teams must love it when they see a home game against the Bengals: in 2000 Cincinnati lost at Dallas 6-23, at Philadelphia 7-16. In 1999 they lost at Carolina 3-27. Lions are 0-5 right now but have played better last two weeks and should have the energy to get the win here.
Pick Detroit -3
- Buffalo at San Diego: Chargers have been mighty at home winning 30-3, 28-14 and 27-10. Second straight home game while Buffalo is flying cross country (2,600 miles) after going 1,000 miles to Jacksonville last week. Teams who take a while to get their first win don't get another right away most of the time. With Denver fading Chargers do look like a playoff team.
Pick San Diego -7

Teri's Best Bets of the Week
Miami at Seattle
Dumb dumb dumb. Okay I'll give Holmgren a little break because Dilfer is supposedly injured but Hasselbeck was named the starter anyway. Ridiculous! Even my new stud Shaun Alexander won't be able to save Seattle this week. In my crystal ball I see Seattle getting no more than ten points. In my crystal ball I see Miami scoring at least twenty!
Teri's Pick: MIAMI -2.5
Arizona at Dallas
Could it be that Jake the Snake is back? Arizona has all the makings of mediocrity yes, but with a fourth quarter charmer like Jake facing off with a tired old Dallas team I'm pretty pleased to put a cherry on top. I am known around town for my sharp card playing.
Teri's Pick: ARIZONA -3
