    SUPER BOWL trends are difficult: there just are not that many games to look at. In general team defense has been a better indicator than team offense. This year the two teams both have the exact same points allowed in the regular season. New England however played a much tougher schedule, which would give them then the defensive advantage. New England's performance against Indianapolis in the playoffs was also impressive.

    Not that this constitutes a great deal of meaningful data, but based on this table there are some combinations that have been some distance from the 50% expected value. Certain teams may be worth a closer look:
