THE WEEK THAT WAS: NFL Week Four
With commentary by Tim
Be ready my mateys! Batton down the hatches, hoist the sails, and prepare to set sail for another wondrous journey into the vast oceans and unchartered worlds that beckon to us from this here National Football League...
Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho, a Pirate's life for me!
Hot off the presses, the early edition TMW play-by-play ratings for your perusal from the most recent week of this festive NFL season. For those new to the numbers read the following:
- PSR: Play Success Rate - every play is graded as either a success or failure
- Big: percentage of plays that went for big gains...10+ yards for a run, 20+ for a pass
- Yds: adjusted yards per play, including penalties and excluding non-plays
- EFR: Effectiveness rating. One number overall summary.
- Stats Score: This is the projected score the TMW computer would have spit out if the stats for the game were the numbers coming in. This column lets us know who "should" have won.

Ain't no denying it, the Bills going nowhere with Mr. Lowman, um Loser, ah Losman. Maybe the Saints and San Antonio will work out for the long term too. "San Antonio Saints" has a nice ring to it. Not that I would wish any more pain on the fine fine city of New Orleans, but that owner has a hankering to move so they say.

Only so many games Leftwich can carry the Jags on his bruised, battered body. Denver a powerhouse by season's end? You may remember the Patriots had that season where they lost the opener like 49-0 and still wound up on top.

The WRONG TEAM WON! And by gum, if it weren't for that pesky instant replay, the Lions would have won. This game may spell the end of the Buc-O's thinking they be the bigshots in town again (sorry boss).

Don't be talking trash now about my Bengals! Maybe they didn't beat up on the Texans like you and I might have though they were going to, but that ain't to say that they don't have the right to a low key victory once in a while. Our beloved Andre Agassi used to say "I can't get up for these kind of guys" (talking about a guy ranked only 25th in the world or something), so cut me some slack. Bengals will still win it all, trust me. When I have been wrong before?

It's ugly in Jetland, but nothing that a sudden appearance by my cousin Vinny can't cure. Watch for a 300 yd passing game by Testaverde. It shocks me that NFL front office folks haven't clued in to how valuable these old QB's are. Gimme Dilfer over Losman, Flutie over Rivers, heck bring back Boomer Esiason for a few more years. Elway could probably outplay half the QB's even today.
